The Los Pinos school in Guatemala. The above photo and the following photo were taken just six months ago in November of 2013. These photos show the roof of the school’s courtyard as it normally appeared prior to the damage from very strong winds in the early hours of May 1st, 2013.

The above photo and the two following photos were taken the 1st of May, 2014. These photos show the roof of the school’s courtyard after the wind damage. As you can see the roof has collapsed atop one of the buildings that contain several of the school’s classrooms. The wind was strong enough to twist and mangle the roof’s steel support structure as if it were tin foil.

Fortunately no one was injured during this phenomenon. This ‘wind event’ took place in the early morning hours leaving behind the structural damage you see here. Electrical power to the entire campus was also lost for several days.
