Las Palmas Graduates Share their Reflections about ICC

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

Earlier this month, two of ICC’s children completed their university studies in the Dominican Republic and graduated.  Here are their reflections about ICC:

“ICC, through the Hogar Campestre [Las Palmas], has influenced my life in a marvelous way.  I managed to feel prepared physically, emotionally and spiritually to face the rest of my life.  I will feel eternally grateful for the professional preparation given to me  and for the Christian principles that I have adopted.  The Hogar has been a fountain for dreams and imaginings – it has been motivation for success.  Thank God, the 7th of December I will graduate with honors.  I am certain that I will continue, with God’s help, to fulfil His plan for my life.”  Name Changed to Protect Privacy

“The Hogar Campestre has significantly impacted my life.  Through this institution I have managed to acquire an integral formation (preparation), and a healthy growth, physically, socially and spiritually.  Having received the support of ICC for my development as a person is a great sign that God loves me and is interested in me and my salvation.  With my Hogar Campestre family I have learned that I can’t live just for myself – there always has to be room for others; that we don’t have to panic about the things of this life because everything will pass. It is important to value and respect the differences in others. We each have different qualitities which make us special and inique, and this is essential for the world to be dynamic and full of life.  God has a purpose and plan for each life, and I am part of God’s puzzle – nothing happens by chance.  For those whom God loves, all things work together for good, even those things in life which seem unfair to us.  I profoundly thank God for giving me the opportunity to be part of the fmaily of ICC, who prepares and forms children and young people for the heavenly kingdom.  Sincerely, with all my heart, thank-you.  May God always bless you.”  Name Changed to Protect Privacy

On January 23-25, 2009 six ICC children will graduate from the Flaiz secondary school.  This is an exciting time for the students as they complete this level of education and antipcate moving on to new challenges.  ICC sponsors and supporter can feel pleased that they have played a role in seeing these students succeed.  Graduations provide evidence that the programs of ICC are making a positive difference in the lives of children and society as a whole.

On behalf of the administration and graduates  of Sweet Home thank-you for your support and prayers.

ICC Belgium Concert, Again a Success

Monday, December 15th, 2008

Here is a report regarding a special concert arranged by the ICC Belgium Chapter…

On Saturday evening, November 29th, the Children’s and Youth Choir “Konsinjoorkes” sang their lungs out, with songs brought by the Children’s Choir, the Youth Choir, the Concert Choir and the Big Choir (all together).

Although we had less inscriptions to last year, we could count on some loyal supporters, whom again were surprised by the quality of the choir.

During the intermission we could all enjoy a cold or warm drink and a small snack, as usual well presented by Carmen, Linda and Wim. And as always, Francine was standing guard at the ICC sales table.

How wonderful it is for children and youth to sing for CHILDREN and YOUTH in need!  The benefit from this concert was for the children’s village “Patmos” in Congo.

El Oasis to Receive Funds from Local Conference

Friday, December 5th, 2008

We’ve received word from Mauro Reyes, director of the El Oasis children’s village in Mexico, that the local Seventh-day Adventist Conference has decided to support the children’s program there. At their annual stewardship congress, it was voted unanimously that all churches and congregations include in their budgets a percentage that will go to support the El Oasis children’s village. According to Mauro Reyes, “At the beginning we won’t see much because many churches are small and have financial problems. But it will be a small drop that will flow monthly.”

The project continues to have good relations with the government. Mauro Reyes indicated that the “DIF” or child protection agency “wants to continue giving us children…” The head of DIF for that area and other government officials visited the facility last week and were very happy with what we are doing.

IKN Hero

Monday, December 1st, 2008

We recently received a link to a video featuring a special event conducted by the IKN office in the Netherlands. Though the event took place several months ago you may find the following report intresting:

On the 7th of May 2008 IKN (ICC the Netherlands) organised a children’s event called “IKN Hero.” Over 300 Dutch children had great fun participating in different kinds of country related activities. The goal was to raise funds and awareness for the ICC Patmos children village in Congo. A 17-year old IKN volunteer made an interesting video. The language is Dutch, but it is really interesting to see how ICC moves kids all around the world.
