A Day at the Beach

Sunday, January 9th, 2011

Here is a message some of us at ICC received from Lilly Kaligithi recently. I thought you ‘d be interested in her report and some of the pictures she sent.

We had a wonderful time together. All our children were home from Spicer College, Bangalore, Rajahmundry, Vizag and Vijayawada. Our children enjoyed the Christmas and New Year special meals. I took them to Perupalem beach on the lst evening just to enjoy the inspiring sights of the sea and sunset. Today I am giving them the last picnic with special meal of the season. Thank you for the money you had sent for Christmas celebrations.

Xth and XIIth Graders have Division examinations from the 10th of this month. Please pray for them. The Govt. Board Examinations are fast approaching—Practical examinations are in February and theory in March.

[Here are] the photos of our trip to the Perupalem beach on the lst of Jan, 2011. Children got into the water in the evening. I just want to share this joy with you.

With New Year greetings,

Notice the emphasis of having all the children home for the holiday. Just like your home, ICC homes provide a sense of family and community to our kids—young and old. What a blessing your donations and support continue to be to our ICC children in India and all the projects of ICC.  Thanks for continuing to make this ministry possible.

We recently received word from Lilly concerning providential care of our children in India. Lilly was indoors when she heard a big bang and saw a frightening flash of light. Lightning had struck a big old tree next to our campus. The tree was uprooted and had fallen across the road. It broke the wall of the school near our property. Power lines were torn down and the tree’s branches were over the children’s village wall, but nothing happened to it. Just a few minutes before the ICC children had returned from special classes. They had just passed where the tree had fallen.

The children’s village was without power for several hours, but we praise God for saving the lives of the children.  As Lily said; “God is great.”

Heavy Rains Cause Damage at Sweet Home

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

Heavy rains have flooded our Sweet Home Children’s Village in India. According to Lilly Kaligithi, ICC India’s director, “We are unable to go anywhere. Please pray for our district. The whole district is going through this problem. I feel sorry for our plants. Hope they will survive.”

The rains are causing damage to the houses which were constructed of cement. Water collecting on the roofs is seeping through to the ceilings and dripping onto the floor.

Lilly is concerned about the costs that will be incurred from trying to repair the damages. She says; “I pray that God will send some funds to help us with these repairs. These rains may continue for another four or five days, according to the predictions. We will somehow pull through these few days and perhaps, we can do the repair work before the next monsoon.”

Please pray for Sweet Home during this difficult time. If you’d like to assist with repairing the homes, please send your donation with a note that says, “India House repairs.”

ASML Foundation Supports Orphans in India

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

ASML Foundation from the Netherlands has decided to continue their support for the work of ICC in 2010. The Dutch foundation will help with the educational costs of 72 children in India.

In the ICC children’s village in India, ICC has a total of 76 children.  Seventy-two of them are going to the elementary school nearby. ICC feels it is very important that children can have a good education. It costs  $240 for one child to enjoy a year of education.

Recently ASML Foundation decided to donate for the total cost of all 72 children, a total of $17.280.  ASML Foundation also believes that it is important for children to have a good education. Just like ICC, they believe that for the long term, good education for children will help move society forward.

ICC’s Nursing Students in India

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Lily, our ICC director in India, recently sent the following message regarding ICC children who participated in a special ceremony for nursing students:

Dear Friends:

I just returned from Bangalore where four of our children are studying in the College of Nursing.  I went there to attend their Lamp Lighting Ceremony.  Many parents were present at that celebration.  I was a proud mother and I humbled myself before the Lord for His goodness and blessings upon these lovely children.

They are very happy and doing well in the school.  Please pray for them.

Attached are a few photographs of the ceremony.

Thank you for your support and prayers.  We are grateful to you.

With many best wishes,

Lilly
