Phnom Penh Orphans
Adventist Southeast Asia Projects (ASAP) established an orphan home in Samrong in 1996 with 12 orphans. ICC began support of this home on July 1, 1996. The home soon expanded to 20 orphans as Pastor Samithy found other needy orphan children. The home was of simple construction and lacked essential aspects for care of children such as a kitchen, well, toilets etc. ICC funded these items and built a second home on the property owned by the Cambodia Adventist Mission in 1997. The orphans had to flee from Samrong during civil strife and are temporarily in Phnom Penh, the capital. They will transfer to Kampong Thom when the housing there is completed.
