Education Saves Lives. Really!
You can take this statement to the bank. Education is the best way to beat the effects of poverty and save the lives of at-risk children.

By providing the gift of education to the children in ICC’s programs, you are giving them the most successful weapon available in conquering the debilitating quagmire that is poverty. Thousands of lives have been saved and changed through your support.

There is a caveat. Providing that education has inherent costs. Right now ICC is experiencing a funding shortfall for education costs. We need your help. Learn how you can help us conquer poverty and change lives! Click on the following link.

News From The ICC Cong0 Project
The ICC Congo project is a study in contrasts. It is our most recently established project yet is our largest in terms of children served. Normally ICC projects take years to reach full capacity yet Patmos became a full-fledged campus within months.

Patmos is surrounded by civil and political unrest yet is located on a tranquil island. Communication with ICC’s projects is vital yet ICC Congo presents major communication obstacles which even modern technology struggles to overcome (a case-in-point is the following story about the Patmos container).

You Folks Are More Than Awesome!
ICC’s children are rarely blessed with a matching grant. When a matching grant is made, we strive to take full advantage of the opportunity. Your invaluable help has brought us very near to reaching the funding goal of this matching grant.

So many special folks have joined the effort to meet this challenge. You can too! Follow the link to see our progress and learn the complete details of how you can help the kids fulfill this matching grant!

Joel Reyes Leaving ICC
Some opportunities cannot be refused. When an offer of this significance appears, one must take advantage. Recently, Joel Reyes, ICC’s director of public relations, was approached with the proposal that he become the principal of Livingstone Adventist Academy in Salem, Oregon.

After much prayer and consideration, Joel accepted. Joel's degree is in education and he was serving as principal of the SDA school in Scappose, Oregon, just prior to joining ICC. Upon joining ICC, Joel was first the administrator of the El Salvador project and then our director of public relations.

It is with the mixed feelings of both excitement for Joel’s new opportunity and sadness at his departure that we want to afford Joel our heartfelt best wishes for his tenure at Livingstone. We know he’ll be as much a blessing to the students of Livingstone as he has been to the children of ICC.

We will truly miss Joel’s unequaled passion for ICC’s kids. No better advocate could be had for not only the children of ICC, but for all those orphaned and abandoned children who still need a home and family.

Thank you, Joel, for everything you’ve done for “His Kids!”

Joel sent a letter to his coworkers here at ICC HQ after he had announced his departure and we would like to include here his thoughts as he anticipates the next chapter in his life.

“Dear Team,

“I will never be able to express in words my feelings of appreciation to each one of you, and I don’t think I will ever again work with a team like this one that functions like a real family. Thank you for making me part of your family.

“I will be working somewhere else but the family will remain. I will always consider myself part of the ICC family, and shall continue to promote it and uphold its mission.

“I pray that someday when our situation has changed and if we are still traversing this world, perhaps we will be brought back together. Thank you for being a family.”

Director of Public Relations

Photo Essay: Container Arrives In Congo
The container which was shipped to the Patmos Children’s Village in February has arrived at the project! It only took four months and two days.

Désiré Murhima, the ICC-Congo project administrator, sent photos of the container being unloaded. Désiré also sent his thanks to all of you for your kind generosity to the children of Patmos.

You can see a few of the photos and read excerpts from Désiré’s letter at the following link. Thanks again for all you do for “His Kids!”

What’s In This Month’s Qué Pasa?
In the July 2014 Qué Pasa Kent Greve relates a conversation he had with Paul Edgren, a long-time sponsor through ICC. Following is an excerpt:

“During our conversation, Paul shared an experience he and [his wife] Janet had while visiting the children’s village in Romania. They had decided to sponsor a little girl I’ll call Lidia.… When Janet first told Lidia that they would sponsor her, Lidia replied in broken English, “Paul and Janet sponsor me?”…

You can read all of Kent’s conversation with Paul Edgren and much more in the July 2014 Qué Pasa!

ICC Logo None of this work would be possible without those who have committed their efforts to saving and changing the lives of “His Kids.” The children of ICC want to thank you from the bottom of their hearts for making a difference in their lives.

Occasionally when we call for funds for a specific need we receive more in donations than we requested. In those instances when we have received more money than we solicited, those funds will be placed in “Alcyon’s Angel Fund.”
