New Officers Elected To ICC Board
Each year, ICC’s board of directors meets to review the previous year’s progress of ICC’s programs. In addition to the yearly review, new board officers are elected and new members added.

As of April 24, 2014, ICC has a new board chairman and vice-chairman. Cody Irwin has been voted as board chairman and Marilyn Patchin has taken the role of vice-chairman.

We wish to thank our outgoing chairman, Dr. Norm Woods, for his exemplary service to ICC and especially for stepping in as interim director.

We also want to welcome as our newest board member, James Culmore, chairman of the Salmon Creek Business Association.

Photo Essay: Wind Damage At Los Pinos
Early in the morning of May 1st, very strong winds struck the school at the Los Pinos Children’s village in Guatemala. The roof of the courtyard was torn from its moorings and left mangled and twisted atop one of the classroom buildings.

Thankfully there were no injuries to anyone on campus. Follow the link to see photos of the damage.

Have You Seen This Ad?
Starting in May 2014, ICC will begin an effort to inform a greater number of people about ICC by using regional magazine ads.

The first of these ads appears in the May 2014 issue of the “Gleaner,” the monthly news magazine published by the North Pacific Union Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist church. The “Gleaner” covers the northwest region of the United States.

Further versions of the ad featuring other children and their stories will be published in upcoming issues of the “Gleaner.” If you do not receive the “Gleaner.” but would like to see the ad, use the following link. You will find the ad on the inside of the magazine’s back cover.

We really appreciate your support of “His Kids.” Each ad will include a special web address where you will be able to make online donations that will help ICC provide homes and families for even more children. Use the following link to make a donation today!

Tomato Housing Project Established
ICC projects strive to be as self-sufficient as possible. The majority have on-campus farms that help provide fresh foods for that project. Several projects are able to sell excess production to help with expenses.

The ICC Romania project has been erecting greenhouses on their farm in which they are producing fresh vegetables. Their most recent edition is currently being used to grow tomatoes. In order to be as efficient as possible, this greenhouse uses drip irrigation to individually water each tomato plant.

Even with the efforts of the projects in being self-sufficient, it is your support that that provides the lion’s share of operating expenses for the projects. We deeply appreciate your continuing support in providing for “His Kids!”

What’s In This Month’s Qué Pasa?
In the May 2014 Qué Pasa Alcyon Fleck has a personal message about her continuing commitment to the children of ICC. Following is an excerpt:

“International Children’s Care is still a priority in my life, and all of these needy children are the objects of my prayers… There are still new children needing homes… Right now we have room for more children, but we have to have the budgets… to feed and care for them. It is hard for me to hear that there are children waiting for lack of funds….”

You can read Alcyon’s message and much more in the May 2014 Qué Pasa!

How would you like to get a digital copy of the May 2014 Qué Pasa? One that you can read on your computer, tablet or smart phone? Click on the following link and you’ll be able read the Qué Pasa in PDF form. Enjoy!

ICC Logo None of this work would be possible without those who have committed their efforts to saving and changing the lives of “His Kids.” The children of ICC want to thank you from the bottom of their hearts for making a difference in their lives.

Occasionally when we call for funds for a specific need we receive more in donations than we requested. In those instances when we have received more money than we solicited, those funds will be placed in “Alcyon’s Angel Fund.”
