International Children's Care Master Plan

International Children's Care is a charitable organization, composed of people who love children. They are Christian laymen who are concerned about the homeless children in our world, especially third world countries.

Over two decades ago a small group of volunteers, business and professional people, decided to do something for the homeless children. They began in Guatemala after the devastating earthquake of 1976. A corporation was formed, making International Children's Care a charitable organization.

Their purpose was to furnish care and provide homes for abandoned and orphaned children in countries of need.

From the beginning the philosophy of ICC has been to care for children with the "family" plan instead of the traditional institutional method. A large tract of land was secured and homes built on small acreages. These homes would be patterned as closely as possible after a real family, giving the children the warm atmosphere of a loving, Christian home, thus preparing them for real life.

Education is an important factor in the ICC philosophy. Many of the children who come have had no educational opportunities. A primary school is usually included in the master plan. This school gives emphasis to helping the child who is behind, who may never have gone to school. Strong incentives are used to inspire the children with goals and to reach their potential. Besides providing a primary school, access to a secondary school is included in the plans. For those young people who choose higher education, help is provided through sponsorships.

International Children's Care is a Christian organization, and spiritual values are included in the child's training. A church or chapel is provided, and children are taught about the God who loves them and about Jesus who died for them. For children who have seen the worse side of life, these truths offer a remedy for the trauma caused by the tragedies in their lives.

These pages provide you with a visual concept of the Children's Country Village and have been prepared to explain how ICC cares for the children who come into the orphan program. You can have a part in providing homes for more children in this ever expanding program.
