Lambro Triantos, 1968–2012. Lambro with some of the children from ICC's Patmos Children's Village.
ICC’s children and staff have suffered a painful loss as one of our highly loved and esteemed family members has passed to his rest. Lambro Triantos, director of ICC’s partner in the Netherlands as well as European Regional Director, died this morning after battling an aggressive and fast spreading cancer. Lambro was 44.
Vasili Triantos, Lambro’s brother, related that as the sun came up on Sabbath morning, Lambro’s family gathered around him and sang songs of hope—eternal hope. Lambro quietly went to sleep in Jesus.
Kent Greve, ICC’s International Development Director, shared that “I had the privilege of working alongside a true champion in our mission to provide care for orphan and abandoned children. This loss is far reaching in its scope and impact. Lambro was a talented and effective advocate for ICC children around the world. He was a devoted husband and father, and loved Jesus. We will miss Lambro and will cling to the blessed hope of seeing him again when Jesus comes.
Rick Fleck, ICC’s president, in sharing the news with ICC administrators and board members stated that “Although it is difficult and painful for us to lose a loved one, we rejoice in the faith that this death is only a temporary sleep, and Jesus will soon awaken Lambro to be gathered up with Him and with us if faithful together in the clouds of angels to be received into Jesus’ loving arms to live with Him forever. Let’s live and prepare for that day so we will all be there!”
Lambro is survived by his wife, Kalin, his two young children, his parents, Magda and Dimitri, and his brother, Vasili.
Funeral services will be held at the Open Hof Church at the Walraven van Hallstraat 2 in Zwijndrecht, Netherlands at 13:00 on Friday, August 31.
Let’s unite in prayer and thought with his family at this difficult time.

Recently we were fortunate to be given the opportunity to acquire lighting, at no cost, for the new commercial bakery being built at the ICC Romania Children’s Village. The only catch was that our crew from IKN in The Netherlands had to provide the labor to remove the lights. So über volunteer Dimitri Triantos spent two days extracting the light fixtures.
Once the fluorescent fixtures had been removed IKN shipped them to our Romanian project where they have now been installed into the drop ceiling for the bakery. Thirty-three of these fixtures were sent to and installed in Romania.

We were informed by our staff in Romania that getting these fixtures without having to purchase them locally created a significant savings in material costs for the construction of the bakery. Typically these types of fixtures cost $120.00 each. That’s $3960.00 our staff in Romania will be able use in other ways to support the children.

Thanks to IKN and Dimitri for providing the lights for our bakery project at ICC Romania.

On the 22nd of November another transport was loaded for Romania by the ICC office in the Netherlands. Dutch volunteers loaded a Romanian truck with building materials for the bakery. Items included natural stone, special glue for floor tiles and special lighting fixtures for the ceiling. There were three pallets with food and some clothes, toys and furniture.

The shipment also contained 750 shoe boxes. Each shoe box was filled with school materials and a gift. ICC Romania will give these boxes to the pupils of the elementary schools in the surroundings of the ICC Children Village. ICC Romania will also distribute 220 family boxes with food for the poorest families in their area.
Over the years ICC has developed a lighthouse program to support the needs in their community.

Last year the ICC Netherlands (IKN) office organized a shoe box activity for our children’s village in Romania as well as for the surrounding community. Two schools, some companies and some individuals supported this action. Participants were encouraged to take a shoebox and fill it with a pencil, pen, eraser, notebook lines, writing pads, hat, scarf, mittens, T-shirts, underwear, pencils, pencil case, cap and bouncing ball.

Because of the success of this program, we decided to do it also this year. So far, it is going very well. Joining us this year are schools from the West, South and North of the country. There are also churches in Belgium, a few companies and individuals who are helping us.

The choice was quickly made when chairs and cupboards were being replaced at the Community Center ‘t Nieuwelant in Vlaardingen the Netherlands. The center had contracted with the company IVA Groep BV to supply the center with new chairs and cupboards. The question came up, “What shall we do with the old ones? Should we throw them out.”
The account manager for IVA Groep BV, Jonne Klaucke, contacted ICC Netherlands (IKN) to see if an ICC project could use 100 chairs and 6 cupboards and thus prevent them from going in a waste container.
Quickly agreements were made between the parties.
On Tuesday the 9th of August these items were loaded by transport business Slager & Zandbergen and delivered to a temporary storage space. These items will eventually be loaded onto a 40-foot container and shipped to the Dominican Republic where they will be used at the Las Palmas children’s village that IKN supports.

Chairs for ICC's project in the Dominican Republic are loaded for transport to a storage facility till they can be loaded onto a container and shipped to the Dominican Republic.
Employees and the board of the Community Center ’t Nieuwelant have the heartfelt wish that this furniture will make a positive difference in the lives of the Las Palmas children.

IKN (ICC Netherlands) has sent another transport this week to Romania. Every year they send two full trucks with relief goods to the ICC Romania children’s village. This time the truck was filled with items like paint, 43 new children bicycles, adult and children’s clothing, CAT work clothing, and two big water tanks for catching rain water.

The paint recently shipped to ICC's Romanian project

Also included was roofing material. The ICC Romania Children’s village has a “lighthouse project” that provides assistance in the surrounding village. Around 40% of the people of this village live in extreme poverty. The roofing material will be used to put new roofs on 10 homes. This will be done this summer by a group of ADRA Netherlands volunteers.

On Monday, the 28th of March, Dimitri and Lambro Triantos (from IKN or ICC the Netherlands) visited some companies. There are many companies who donate products which IKN sends to the ICC Children’s Villages.
Here is an overview of their visit on that day:
At 10:00 a.m. Dimitri and Lambro Triantos visited Enza Zaden in Enkhuizen. The company donated over 350 containers for planting seeds. These containers will be distributed later this year to the ICC Children’s Villages in Romania and the Dominican Republic.

At 11:30 a.m. Dimitri and Lambro visited the company N.A.G. in Westknollendam. Robin Visser, director of the company, which specializes in gutter systems, decided a few weeks ago to support the bakery in Romania by supplying roof gutters for the bakery. His father, Herman Visser, and a colleague will travel to Romania this summer to install the roof gutters themselves.
Dimitri and Lambro got a tour through the company and were introduced to an ingenious system called Roof Alerts. Anyone who is interested in roofs, should go to http://www.roofalerts.com.

Rehamij in Bergambacht was the final stop for the day. Dimitri and Lambro arrived there at 2:30 p.m. They were received by Jason van Rijen. The company specializes in selling work clothes. IKN received a number of boxes with CAT clothing. The clothing will be used for mission trip volunteers and the team of ICC Romania.

De Mijl Vastgoed BV is a Dutch company that has supported IKN (ICC Netherlands) for many years. In particular they support our home building projects in Nicaragua and the D.R. Congo. They have also provided IKN with 2,153 square feet of warehouse space at no cost.

Their latest gift to IKN is a new van. IKN really needed this new van because our original van had became old and worn. With this new van IKN can pick up clothes, toys, food and building materials which will be sent to the ICC Children villages.

Magda Triantos, Dimitri Triantos (IKN's founders) and Lambro Triantos (IKN's director) accept the keys to the new van donated to IKN (ICC Netherlands) by De Mijl Vastgoed BV.

On November the 17th the IKN team and seven volunteers filled a big truck for our children’s village in Romania. During the past few weeks some schools, individuals and companies donated gifts-in-kind for our Romanian campus. IKN received food, school supplies, clothes, toys, building materials and many more items. The largest part of the shipment will be for ICC’s children’s village in Romania. The remaining part (225 boxes for families and 450 boxes for children) will be for the local people of the village near our campus.

On the 30th of November ICC Romania will go to the nearby village to give away the family boxes and children’s boxes. The family boxes are filled with all kinds of food and candles and will be donated to 225 families, who need it the most. The children’s boxes contain school supplies, toys and candy for the 450 pupils of the local elementary school.
