Tragedy Strikes Again in the DR Congo

Newly Orphaned Children Need Immediate Help!

Overnight. In a moment. In an instant. Life can be forever altered. There are seven orphan children whose lives have been forever changed and who need your help right away! Please read on.

Several weeks ago, heavy rains fell in a province of the DR Congo. No one knew at the time that a tragedy was brewing. However, the heavy rains, combined with deforestation, were just too much for the saturated ground to hold.

Early one morning the earth trembled as a torrent of water, mud and debris gathered momentum and stormed down the hillside. Sleeping villagers had little time to react as the wall of mud crashed through their homes burying entire families and leaving behind a path of death and destruction. In just a few moments, scores of people died and over a hundred children were left orphaned.

These children (and many others) lost their families during a deadly mud slide in the DR Congo. They were brought to our Patmos Children’s Village. They need your help.

As is often the case in poor countries, humanitarian aid and assistance was slow to arrive to this remote area. The survivors suffered, and this was especially true for the children.

Nearly a month went by before the government assessed what to do with the orphans. That’s when our Patmos Children’s Village was asked to help. Désiré, project director, sent an urgent appeal to my wife, Sharon, ICC’s director for children services. Here is an edited excerpt from that message:

Yesterday we received unexpected visitors — a team of five persons from North-Kivu Province. They had been sent to us by the Ministry of Social Affairs.

This team brought seven children with them. The children had severe malnutrition. They were from Mabolio where a landslide had covered 129 houses. 329 persons were unaccounted for. 97 dead bodies were found along the river. 111 surviving children were without assistance and were half-dead.

The province reported the case to the Ministry of Social Affairs. A meeting was held by the National and International Non-Governmental Organizations to study together a permanent solution to save these children.

At the end of the meeting, the children were spread to 6 children’s villages. That’s how we have received 7 children who need urgent assistance. They need quality food, medical care, clothes, accommodation, psycho-social follow-up, protection, schooling, etc.

We tried to explain to the delegation that we do not have enough financial means to take care of the children. They did not believe us because they had heard about our children we helped to become independent last year.

They also heard that Patmos village has a tremendous reputation all over the country and provides appropriate care to children.

In favor of these children, we beseech you Mother Sharon to introduce this case to the ICC Board so that the children may receive help for their salvation.

Désiré MURHIMA
M.Sc Administrator

Désiré is aware of the financial implications of having seven new children to feed, clothe and educate. He has been trying to stretch the resources he has to provide for over 100 children who are currently part of the Patmos family. He has turned to us for help.

And now, I am turning to you. Will you help these children in their time of need? In considering this request, Sharon said, “How can I say no to this very urgent need? I was just feeling like we were getting down to the right number of children in the homes we have, and the Lord is sending more. Is a crowded home better than no home? Is a little bit of food better than no food? It is a life and death situation to these children.”

Today, we are dedicated to stepping out in faith to take these helpless children into our care, a faith in Jesus who has left this responsibility to all of us, and a faith in each one of you that you will step up and support these children as you always have.

It will take some time before we have enough information in order to assign these children sponsors. In the meantime, they will need the things that Désiré mentioned, which will stretch the Patmos budget even further. Your gift of support today for $50 or $100 will be life-saving for these children.

Also, the DR Congo has 423 dialects. Each tribe has its local and/or regional language. None of those at the Patmos Children’s Village knows or understands the languages of these new children. Désiré indicated most of the children don’t know their own identities.

We must move forward to help them. To rescue and restore the lives of orphan children is our mission. We are counting on you as we always have when we face an urgent situation like this. Thank you for your prayers!

On behalf of the children, thank you very much for your generosity and loving care!

May God bless you,
Rick Fleck

P.S. These seven children, orphaned by circumstances beyond their control, desperately need your help. Please send in your gift of support today!

A Step In Faith

“Little Nicole was found hiding in the bushes, shivering in the darkness… all of her family members had perished in the landslides… To picture that little child terrified and alone, just crushes my heart…”

Nicole’s entire family were carried to their deaths by landslides following torrential rains. You can help Nicole. Your gift will give her a new family.

Nicole’s entire family were carried to their deaths by landslides following torrential rains. You can help Nicole. Your gift will give her a new family.

I know what Faith means to me  — Forever, Anywhere, I’ll, Trust, Him — FAITH. This is exactly what we have again just experienced here at ICC concerning a small girl that was going to die in Congo. The story of Nicole* is an amazing story of what I believe is the main reason that Jesus created ICC. Somehow I think you may feel the same way.

Recently, there were torrential rains, which caused devastating flooding in the Mulenge Mountains, in the Uvira territories of the Congo.

The few people who were able to survive could only stand by and watch as family, friends, animals, livestock, homes and belongings were swept away in the landslides of mud that roared through their village from the four full days of relentless downpour.

Can you imagine how this must have felt to stand there and witness such a horrific event and not be able to stop it?

One night after the storms subsided, one of the ADRA workers that was on-site heard the cries of a small child in the darkness. Little Nicole (we are guessing she is about three-years-old) was found hiding in the bushes, shivering in the darkness alone, since all of her family members had perished in the landslides. To picture that little child in my mind, terrified and alone, just crushes my heart.

The ADRA worker brought Nicole to our Patmos Children’s Village on the island and asked us if we could take her in since she would perish without help.

We are all aware that the finances are really stretched here at ICC right now, but for those of us who serve here, this request to take Nicole in IS the reason Jesus created ICC. We knew we did not have sponsors to financially support little Nicole, but we also knew that without help, she would perish.

So, we have taken Nicole into our ICC Family in faith — faith in a God who is “The Father of the fatherless,” and a faith in our ICC family that you would never choose to turn a child in need away due to financial challenges.

Désiré, our director at Patmos, just wrote a letter to us, and here is an excerpt:

“At the arrival of our new little girl, Nicole, she is very shy and she just isn’t eating all types of food given to her. We found out that in addition to the deadly accident of her parents, she had a case of malnutrition. She has discolored hair, a large belly and scabies on her legs. We ask anyone who has a heart for children to contribute financially to support our little girl Nicole.”

Nicole needed a life-saving love in order to survive. We made that choice in faith to somehow find a way to provide that love for her by adding her to our ICC family.

Nicole needs your help. Your loving gift will give her a new family at Patmos.

Nicole needs your help. Your loving gift will give her a new family at Patmos.

Today is the time for each one of us to step forward and make sure that Nicole, and others just like her have a place to call “home.” A home in a children’s village is a place where these children will find the love and hope that they lost or have not had before.

Every one of us can tell these children they are loved in spite of what has happened to them by giving our financial support in providing for them. In giving to these children, I am sure that your life will be blessed many times over. I know this because it happens in my life.

For just 41 cents per meal, which is only $1.22 each day, you can provide an entire day’s meals to a child in Congo. What a difference something as simple as meals can make for them!

If you can help financially, no matter how large or small, please do so today. Will you help Nicole and so many other children know that they are loved enough that someone somewhere will do something to help them? If you and I do not do this for these special children, who will?

Please mark your donations “The Nicole Project and we will make sure that 100% of your donations go directly to provide for Nicole and her new brothers and sisters in The Patmos Children’s Village.

God bless you for providing for these special children in need.

Executive Director

Pathfinders — A Blessing that You make Possible!

Tuesday, September 5th, 2017

Pathfinder programs that you make possible through your gifts are just one example of how your support is blessing ICC children.

Thank you for supporting the children so they can participate in the life-changing experiences of Pathfinders. This includes providing funds for uniforms and special activities like camporees.

What an amazing opportunity Pathfinder activities are for the children! These experiences will stay with them for a lifetime. On behalf of the children whose lives you touch with your generous support, thank you so very much.

“Thank you for supporting the children in the life-changing experiences of Pathfinders.”

In 2017, the SDA church in Inter-America organized a division-wide camporee in the Dominican Republic. Because of the cost and distance, the Los Pinos Pathfinder Club in Guatemala was not able to attend. However, the staff organized their own camporee-type activity with another local club that was newly formed and had never been to a camporee before.

Your support of Pathfinders gives the children an opportunity to learn important lessons and skills they can take with them through life.

Your support of Pathfinders gives the children an opportunity to learn important lessons and skills they can take with them through life.

The children participated in specialty classes (honors) that included Basic First Aid, Orienteering, Family Life, Cats, Trees and Shrubs, and Human Sexuality (taught by the new psychologist).

Other events included competitions, physical activities, spiritual activities, marching and an investiture. The children also had the opportunity to share their faith by traveling to the local town of Poptun to pass out books to people on the streets. According to Joel Carpio, Los Pinos director, “it was a great blessing, and our kids enjoyed sharing experiences with this new club.”

Since the Inter-American Division camporee was held in the Dominican Republic, the Las Palmas children had a great desire to participate. Your support made this possible, and the children had a wonderful time!

The Las Palmas children thank you for providing funds for uniforms and the opportunity to attend the recent camporee. What a blessing you are for the children!

Marching is one of the highlights for any camporee. At this event, the march was done by zones or regions. Our Las Palmas kids were blessed to be selected to be part of the group in the exhibition march. According to Samilin, Las Palmas Director, they marched really well and were well received by the people from the other countries. Undoubtedly this was an experience which was unique and once in a lifetime for them.

Mealtime was quite unique because none of the Pathfinder clubs were allowed to cook in the camp area because so many people were attending (more than 10,000). Meals were prepared and brought in from another location. The children would get very hungry while waiting, but when the food finally arrived, they would give a lot of thanks to God for the food and all His blessings.

According to Samilin, the opening ceremonies were spectacular for the kids. They had never seen nor participated in an activity like that and were awestruck by the beauty and the many colorful lights from the fireworks. While this was happening, our club leader and chaplain, Kauri, was comparing this to what it might be like at Jesus’ second coming, when the whole heavens will open and be filled with angels ready to seek His children. The children marveled at this spectacle and shouted with joy that it was like it might be when Jesus comes. Kauri urged the children to prepare to be able to shout with joy and happiness when we see that spectacle.

Pathfinder activities provide the staff a special time to mentor the children.

Pathfinder activities provide the staff a special time to mentor the children.

The Las Palmas children very much enjoyed and appreciated the opportunity to experience this once in a lifetime event that you helped make possible for them. Here are words of appreciation from Samilin that she wrote especially for you:

Dear Donors,

I want to take this opportunity to thank you in a very special way for your generous donations which made it possible for one of the most beautiful dreams of these kids to come true — to be able to shine in their Pathfinder uniforms. This is one of the activities that they most enjoy, but at the same time it helps them in a very important way in their growth as persons academically and spiritually. They learn many useful things for their lives in the Club, and we can certainly say these experiences will go with them for the rest of their lives.

The experience that the kids had at the Inter-American Camporee was unforgettable. Thanks to God and the donations from our supporters and friends, our Pathfinders had the fun experience of sleeping in very good quality Coleman tents, and they got to participate in all the activities.

Thanking you with all my heart for your donations and the interest that you show to make it possible for our boys and girls to develop,

Sincerely yours,

Samilin Williams
Executive Director

— A Message of Concern From the President —

I’m concerned. I don’t worry that God can provide for His kids through this ministry. But I am human, and feel concern as I see that donations this year are running behind last year and budgets are not being met for our children’s villages. It might not seem that it would make much of an impact if you neglect to send a donation, or delay your support for a couple of months. But it all adds up and makes a big impact on the funds for our children.

So I pray that God will heal my concern and prove once again that He will provide for all His children, and that includes you, dear friend.

A Life Transformed Because Of You

Tuesday, August 29th, 2017

Stela is a vibrant young lady thanks to you! It was your generous support that made it possible for Stela to become a part of the ICC family in Romania. Her life now is quite different from how it started out.

Stela’s life has been transformed because of your support. Recently she made the decision to be baptized.

Stela’s life has been transformed because of your support. Recently she made the decision to be baptized.

When Stela arrived, she showed signs of serious neglect. She had been abandoned and left in a children’s hospital in Bucharest. After three months, no family visited and the authorities brought Stela to the ICC Romania receiving center.

She received nourishing food and loving care. Soon she was growing and developing like a healthy child!

It can’t be underscored enough just how much of a difference your support makes when you help provide a child with food and shelter and nurturing support. The transformation is dramatic!
But as you well know, the progression from childhood to an adult is a long process. That is why your continued help is so critical to, and appreciated by, children like Stela!

When it was time for Stela to go to school she thrived and was at the head of her class. But things dramatically changed for her at adolescence. Stela suffered emotionally and acted out.

The root cause?

Being abandoned and knowing that her mother had kept other children! Why hadn’t her mother kept her, too?

Your generous support enabled Stela to receive the counseling and support that she needed during those turbulent years. In time, her feelings of inferiority subsided, and through a group of Adventist young people Stela become more conscious of God’s work in her life.

Three years ago, Stela was accepted into the Adventist high school in Bucharest. She is currently a Junior and has another year to go before she graduates. Stela is diligent in her school work, serious in studying the Bible and has decided to be baptized!

Recently, Stela shared her testimony which includes many heart-warming memories and a dream for the future that you can help make possible through your continued support!

“I’m thrilled when I think of my childhood at ICC.

I have memories everywhere, memories of all my ages, and memories of every stage of my growth.

I remember the evenings when we spent time as a family after the moments of worship. We were discussing and playing games.

Stela has fond memories of a mission group from the Netherlands. She especially enjoyed closing the Sabbath with Lambro Triantos leading the singing with his guitar.

Stela has fond memories of a mission group from the Netherlands. She especially enjoyed closing the Sabbath with Lambro Triantos leading the singing with his guitar.

If I look in the yard, I remember the worship moments at the end of Sabbath in the gazebo in our beautiful yard. I remember when the volunteer group joined us [from Holland] at the end of the Sabbath and we spent a lot of time singing and Lambro was playing his guitar. At the end, he shared with us bananas from Dimitri (in the picture below at the back left). It was like a good grandfather sending sweets to his grandchildren.

Thanks to the faithful support of donors like you, Stela, (child on the right), received the loving care she needed.

We had competitions. We had a week to memorize some Psalms, and in the evening of the Sabbath day, we used to recite it. Those who knew it better were awarded. All these warm moments helped me to feel important, to think ‘I’m not alone, even if my mother left me.’

During the potato harvest Stela, with the other children in Romania did their best to be the first of several teams vying to collect all the potatoes in their assigned row. Once the potatoes were all harvested, it was time to enjoy ice cream.

If I look to the garden I remember how funny the potato harvesting was. We were a group on a row, and each group tried to be the first to pick up all the potatoes from the row. At the end, we used to enjoy delicious ice cream.

I remember our trips to the local forest and the picnics and the games we played there. I loved so much to pick up a flower and to bring it to the ladies who cared for us.

Stela enjoyed the times she and the other children sang as part of ICC Romania’s children’s choir.

Stela enjoyed the times she and the other children sang as part of ICC Romania’s children’s choir.

I remember the times we were singing with the choir… these are some precious memories. I remember the time spent in the car during the drive to the place of the concert. Someone always took care to bring something sweet for us, the children.

I remember our trips to the seacoast. We were playing in the water, and our caretakers called us to eat donuts with jam or chocolate. All these memories make me realize that life is a good thing.

There was a time when I was upset with God and with people around me, because I thought I was different and not good enough for my own family. After a while, all these nice memories I had from the campus were an important aspect that helped me to change my point of view. Now I’ve decided to give my life to God and to be baptized.

Stela wants to combine her childhood dream of being a surgeon with the desire to help other children who live in difficult circumstances.

Stela wants to combine her childhood dream of being a surgeon with the desire to help other children who live in difficult circumstances.

When I was a child I dreamed of becoming a surgeon and traveling around the world. Now I’m thinking of finding something that will combine my childhood dreams with the possibility of supporting other children in difficulties.

Thanks to the faithful support of donors like you, Stela, (child on the right), received the loving care she needed.

I like to imagine that sometime in the future we will gather all the children who grew up together at ICC and all the people who cared for us in any way. Then we could see the pathways in life each of us took.”

One of the younger girls recently admitted that she had been having doubts about God and was moving toward being an atheist. But after spending time with Stela, talking and reading together, she was thinking again that God is real.

Thanks in part to your faithful support, Stela is a wonderful role model for the younger girls on the ICC Romania campus. The girls love her, and she looks forward to weekends and vacations when she can return home from boarding school and visit them.

Because of you Stela, and children like her, have experienced a true transformation in their lives Thanks for all you do for “His Kids.”

A New Life — Thanks to You!

Three children arrive at the gate of the Los Pinos children’s village in Guatemala. Valentina and Debora are nine-year-old twins. Their 11-year-old brother, Joel, is with them. His little body aches as he suffers from Dengue fever.

Their father is dead. Long before his death he had abandoned the family. This left the mother and children to struggle on their own. Eventually, it was just too much. The children’s court realized that the mother could not provide for them and sent Joel, Valentina and Debora to Los Pinos.

Tired… hungry… scared… sick.

Because of you, these three childen have been rescued!

After entering through the gate, the children are welcomed into their new Los Pinos family.

You help to propel this ministry for orphans!

Joel receives immediate medical care. The children bathe, put on a fresh set of clothes and eat a nourishing meal. They are accepted into the family and settle into the family routine. For this day, they have found a refuge and a place of healing.

But there is so much more that they need. Having been abandoned, they have deep scars and fears about being left behind by someone they love. They need reassurance that they won’t be abandoned again. They need you to stand beside them and help provide for their on-going care!

Your recurring, monthly gift will help provide the food, clothing, education, or medical care Joel, Valentina, Debora, or another child like them, needs. You will make an ongoing difference in the life of a child.

You have shown great interest in the lives of children who have been orphaned and abandoned.

Though it may not be feasible for you to provide help to children in person, your generous gift will help to restore the lives of children like Joel, Valentina and Debora. With your help, they can continue building on the new start they have been given. Won’t you please help them today?

Container Of Love

Tuesday, August 15th, 2017

You’ll be happy to know that a 40-foot shipping container has been loaded with precious gifts and supplies and is now on its way to the Las Palmas children’s village in the Dominican Republic! Without your support, this shipment would not have been possible. Thank you so much for your partnership and generosity!

This “container of love” has many unique and practical items that will bless the children. Packed carefully and safely inside are — kitchen appliances, cookware and utensils, furniture, clothing, washers, and dryers, tools, and equipment for a dental clinic.

We are able get much more for your money when we obtain lightly-used items here in the United States. Often their quality is far superior to new items that could be purchased locally in the Dominican Republic.

Acquiring items second-hand also provides a blessing to those who are selling. When they find out about this ministry for children and where the item will be going, they often drastically reduce the price. One seller became a donor on the spot when she gave us the sofa she was selling. When she found out that the sofa was going to the children’s village she said, “I can’t take any money.” She then started looking around her house for other things she could donate! She was blessed to be a blessing!

We trust that you also feel this way — Blessed to be a Blessing! You certainly are blessing the children with your support. Thank you for your kindness!

The fully loaded container leaves ICC HQ in Vancouver, WA, for the Las Palmas Children’s Village in the Dominican Republic.

— Second Container Needed! —

The outpouring of your support for this “container of love” was so great that when the doors were shut, many valuable items were left behind. In fact, we have nearly enough to send another container to Las Palmas! What a blessing — and what a challenge as we don’t have sufficient funds on hand to ship the second container. If you’d like to help send up to $4 worth of supplies for every $1 you donate, please send in your gift today and mark it, “Las Palmas Container 2.” Thank you!

ICAP Secondary School Update

Tuesday, February 21st, 2017

In November, the ICAP secondary school in Guatemala celebrated the graduation of 43 students. Of those who graduated, five were from the ICC Los Pinos children’s village.

A new school year has begun and with it there is a new school director. His name is Carlos Mauricio Ordoñez Batz.

Currently there is an enrollment of 351 students. Forty-three students are enrolled in what would be considered Junior High or Middle School in the US. The largest class is for students studying agriculture. There are 181 students enrolled in that program. The next largest class is auto mechanics which has 50 students enrolled. The remaining students are taking course work in such fields as accounting, computers, biology and education.

News & Updates From The Children’s Villages

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2017

“Your support has helped kids and orphans all over the world be safe, be fed, and introduced to our loving Savior!”

Los Pinos, Guatemala
Because of YOU, 20 new children are at Los Pinos! Two of the homes have been remodeled for new children. They are having their own “NEW BEGINNING.”

New children provide a blessing for everyone. All the children are blessed as the family supports the new kids with love and encouragement.

Eight children graduated from ICAP’s secondary school. Griselda, one of our older girls, recently received a university degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

Griselda grew up at Los Pinos. Her university degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry is a first for Los Pinos.

Las Palmas, Dominican Republic
Thanks to YOUR support, 27 new children have come to Las Palmas during the past 15 months. Fabia is one of those kids who was rescued, along with her siblings, from an unsafe family situation.

Your support is securing the future of Las Palmas so it can help more children.

El Oasis, Mexico
Thanks to your support, there are over 20 children — many who are orphans or have been homeless — who now are part of the ICC El Oasis family.

Work is completed on meeting new government requirements. This will give us the possibility to help more kids!

We’re being asked to take in additional children right away. We can’t move forward without YOUR continued support.

Fuente de Vida, Nicaragua
Because of YOU, Alegria recently graduated from 6th grade. All the children enjoyed a special meal in celebration.

Government policies are making the future of this project uncertain. Please pray for the children and staff.

Patmos, Idjwi Island, D.R. Congo
Patmos Children’s Village is ICC’s largest project. Donors like YOU have faithfully supported needed improvements bringing hydro-electric power to the campus and constructing the secondary school.

The director of Patmos, Désiré, recently sent this message; “Insecurity lingers in the country. We face extreme difficulties to get food for the children.”

Please keep the children and staff of this project in your prayers.

DEWS Sweet Home, India
India is one of ICC’s projects where children are experiencing NEW BEGINNINGS — thanks to you. Four new children have been welcomed into the DEWS Sweet home children’s village.

Eight-year-old Mita is one of the new children. Both of Mita’s parents died and other family members were unable to care for her.

The DEWS Sweet Home celebrated its 20-year anniversary In October. The event also celebrated the life and contribution of Lilly Kaligithi who is retiring. Her daughter Susan is taking her place.

For many years, YOU have helped Lilly do amazing things for the children of SWEET HOME. Children both former and current surrounded Lilly celebrating the anniversary and the life of someone they had grown to love and cherish as a mother and a mentor.

Thanks to your support, Mita has been given a NEW BEGINNING!

ICC Romania
YOUR support enables six kids to attend the Adventist boarding high school in Bucharest. Attending this school is a powerful opportunity the children would not have had without your support.

Government authorities are making it difficult for us to continue this project. While the future of this project is uncertain, the children are much better off because of the support you’ve given!

Presidents Message For 2017

Tuesday, December 27th, 2016

As a New Year begins, we’ve all been given the renewed opportunity to experience a NEW BEGINNING. During the past several months YOUR support has helped create dozens of NEW BEGINNINGS for children who have been orphaned, abandoned or neglected.

I’ve shared with you the stories of children who have lived with aching bellies because of malnutrition, or who have experienced abuse and neglect at the hands of family members.

You’ve helped rescue these kids through your generous support! Because of you, they’ve been welcomed into one of our children’s homes. They now have nourishing food and a warm place to sleep. They have Adventist house parents who treat them kindly and tell them about their Heavenly Father who loves them very much.

I say it often, but it bears repeating. This ministry for children exists because of donors like YOU! There would not be a warm welcome nor would there be a NEW BEGINNING — if it were not for YOU! On behalf of the children, thank you very much for your continued care and support!

As we turn the page of yet another year, I invite you to remember the children’s projects that YOU have supported with generous gifts and prayers.

Next week we’ll bring you news of our Children’s Villages around the world.

Christmas Matching Challenge Doubles Your Gift

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2016

Dear Friend,

As the son of an Adventist pastor couple, I grew to love and appreciate the special traditions and activities of Christmas.

The candles.

The carols.

The lights on the tree.

The nativity complete with shepherds, wise men, animals, Mary, Joseph and the Babe laying in a manger.

As lovely as the nativity scene is in portraying the “reason for the season,” it also is a haunting reminder to us all that the Babe lying in a manager was in the manger because there was no room for Him anywhere else!

Today, “no room” is a harsh reality that orphan children continue to face.

But not if you help today.

In the Adventist faith, we are told to “make room” for children. James 1:27 even goes so far as to say that pure and genuine religion requires us to care for orphans in their distress. That’s God’s call to action — for me, and for you!

And now, especially at Christmas, you can make even more room for an orphan child by responding to a special matching grant that will double your gift.

That’s right. Because “making room” for orphans is a top priority, two of our loyal donors have stepped forward to challenge you to match their gifts. You can now double any donation you give until December 31 or until a total amount of $60,00 is reached.

The reality is that this Christmas, we’re experiencing a shortfall for the year. That means it’s almost impossible to think of “making room” for any more children. Budgets are strained to the breaking point taking care of kids who already have found room within the ICC family.

So, wherever the need is greatest, your gift brings help — and hope! Your doubled gift will help provide…

Food for Deka, whose mother was killed by lightning and who suffered from malnutrition before she came desperately needing you to help “make room” for her.

Shelter for orphaned Ramon, whose cousin brought him to ICC to get him away from drug trafficking gangs. Ramon needed you to help “make room” for him.

Nurturing care for Sofia, from an orphanage in Guatemala that was closing its doors. Sofia also needed you to help “make room” for her.

‘Room’ for children like Oria and her three sisters. Oria, the oldest sister, wrote a letter pleading, “Please give us your help. I promise that we are going to behave well… We are not lazy. Even my little sister knows how to do dishes and clean. If the four of us can’t stay and be together, which is our desire, at least I want you to help our little sisters.”

The world tells orphans, “There’s no room for you!” But I’m calling on you to tell a waiting child something far different — You’ll say, “I believe in you! I know you long for a home and family, and I want to help you!”

You’ve done it before. Each and every time you’ve sent a gift to help a child.

I pray that because of your support, orphan children will come to know and experience the love of our Heavenly Father. It was because of God’s great love that He gave the ultimate gift of His Son, Jesus, to the world. And now, God calls us to prepare room and receive Him by helping to “make room” for His little ones who are in need.

“Let every heart, prepare Him room…”

Please, having read this post, send your gift for the children — which will immediately be doubled.

On behalf of the children, thank you for blessing them this Christmas!

In His Service,

Rick Fleck, President ICC

P.S. Remember to give by December 31 to take advantage of year-end tax benefits and to have your gift matched, helping twice as many children in need!
