Future Plans

We plan to construct at least 10 homes for the children on Idjwi. Currently there are enough funds to build the foundations and septic systems for 4 more houses. We are seeking additional funds to complete the building of these homes. We also need to build a meeting place for the children, a school and staff housing.

A small hydroelectric facility is needed to provide electricity to the children’s village and a few of the neighboring homes. This will be the first electricity on the island.

• A water system to bring pure drinking water from springs farther up the mountain
• A permanent building for the cassava mill industry
• An agriculture program to provide food for the children and extra income from produce that can be sold
• A vehicle for transporting the children and supplies in Goma
• A building (or buildings) to accommodate the carpentry industry and other vocational enterprises like sewing
