Current Status
At the present ICC provides for 26 children in Colombia who mostly reside in three major cities: Bogota, Bucaramangla, and Medellin. Ten of ICC’s original children have graduated from university and are serving as pastors, teachers, and one works for ICC in Guatemala. Ten of the other original children continue in our sponsored care. ICC does continue to take new children on a limited basis.
Future Plans
In August of 2000 when Rick and Sharon Fleck attended the Inter American Division ASI, a couple who live near Medellin talked with Rick and Sharon about the possibility of ICC helping them start a project for children. At that time Rick and Sharon talked with them and gave them some ground work to do. Then in 2004 when Rick and Sharon returned to the Inter American Division ASI, the couple had done all the ground work and had even purchased some property with one house on it. They are moving ahead and beginning to care for children. The name they have given their project is “Project of Love”. They are begging ICC to come and look at what they have done and include “Project of Love” as part of the ICC family. ICC plans on visiting this project when a trip is made to Colombia.
There still remains a hope that one day the government’s laws will allow ICC to develop a village where Colombian children who are orphaned or abandoned can be raised in a stable, Christian environment after ICC’s model.
